Brie Bird’s Mom Reflects on Her Daughter’s Final Moments After a Brave Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer
Mother Remembers Final Moments with Late Influencer Brie Bird
Kendra Bird is reflecting on her last week with her daughter, influencer Brie Bird, who tragically passed away. In an emotional post on Instagram dated December 18, Kendra shared poignant memories, noting, “One week ago from this very moment, we were having regular conversations.” She recounted discussions about Christmas preparations and memories created together, emphasizing the suddenness of loss. “An hour later, you had fallen asleep, and we never heard your voice again,” she added.
Brie Bird died at the age of nine on December 11, following a courageous battle with stage IV cancer. Kendra spoke about the final moments they shared as a family, stating, “I laid by your side, as dad sat next to your bed. We both held you as your body transitioned, whispering all the things we’ve told you for nine years. ‘You’re amazing! You are so loved. You have changed the world. It’s such a privilege to be your mom.’”
Kendra continued to reflect on her daughter’s legacy, expressing a commitment to honor Brie’s memory through acts of service and sharing their faith. “Though I don’t agree with or understand His plan right now, we do know that you are no longer in a broken body and finally able to run; run straight to Jesus,” she wrote.
Brie was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a cancer affecting the nervous system, in 2020 and was placed in hospice care earlier this year. Kendra previously shared the impact this journey has had on her family. “Mitch and I have been married for 11 years. Half our marriage has been navigating childhood cancer,” she revealed in a July Instagram post.
Kendra also described Brie’s close relationships with her younger siblings. “Kenzley, we call her lady, adores and admires Brielle. She wants to do everything Brielle does. They often dress up and do makeup together,” Kendra noted. Regarding her son Knox, she mentioned, “Brielle is his second mom. Knox can make Brielle smile, even when she doesn’t want to.”
In her reflections, Kendra emphasized how the experience has reshaped her family’s perspective on life. “For five years, we have prioritized a strong relationship with God, time together as a family, and noticing miracles in the darkest circumstances,” she said. Kendra concluded, “If finding joy in darkness seems impossible, I get it; let’s help create glimmers of hope for each other.”
