Blue Fox Secures Global Rights for ‘Dead Janitors Club’ at EFM
EXCLUSIVE: Blue Fox Entertainment has secured worldwide rights to Dead Janitors Club, a dark comedy inspired by Jeff Klima’s memoir, The Dead Janitors Club: Pathetically True Tales of a Crime Scene Cleanup King.
The company plans to kick off international sales at the European Film Market, with a release of the film in the United States and Canada slated for later this year.
This film adapts Klima’s true-life experiences as a crime scene cleaner in Los Angeles.
Dead Janitors Club is produced by Robert Rhine, who holds the rights to the memoir. Rhine collaborated with directors Kenny Gage and Devon Downs, known for their work on Cynthia.
The film features Jake Busey from Stranger Things as Dirk, a corrupt police officer working alongside Jeff Klima, portrayed by Felix Merback from Blood Star. Other cast members include Brianna Gage (Raze), Jake Holley (Wake), Ginger Lynn Allen (The Devil’s Rejects), and Gary Busey (The Buddy Holly Story), who plays George, a homeless character known for his territorial habits.
“Dead Janitors Club delivers a killer hook, sharp characters, and nonstop momentum—everything international buyers are looking for right now,” said Lisa Gutberlet, President of Blue Fox Entertainment, in a statement. “We’re excited to add it to our slate and look forward to launching it worldwide with partners who recognize its strong commercial appeal.”
