Blake Bowen of JSerra Reflects on a Memorable Senior Season and His Home Run Success
JSerra High Baseball Season Ends on a High Note for Blake Bowen
In a spirited finish to the high school baseball season, Blake Bowen and his JSerra High teammates delivered a strong performance, culminating in a three-game sweep against Santa Margarita. Bowen, a 6-foot-4 senior, showcased his talent by hitting three home runs during the series. Despite the impressive showing, the Lions concluded their season with a record of 11-17, missing out on postseason play.
“Too little, too late,” lamented coach Brett Kay.
Bowen’s strong finish elevates his season statistics to nine home runs and a .360 batting average. His remarkable ability to drive the ball could position him as a high draft pick this summer.
“It’s the best power I’ve ever seen for a high school player,” Kay remarked, highlighting Bowen’s potential.
Originally a football player, Bowen shifted his focus to baseball after transferring from Riverside King to JSerra. His aggressive playing style, reminiscent of his football days, has made a significant impact on the field.
“Once he comes into his own, he’s going to be special,” added Kay.
The Lions faced challenges this season, primarily due to a youthful roster hampered by injuries. However, freshman Joey Koenig emerged as a noteworthy talent, demonstrating strong hitting skills and potential for future pitching opportunities.
