Bill Maher Joins the Celebration for Los Angeles Magazine Cover at The Woods in West Hollywood
Bill Maher Celebrated at The Woods West Hollywood Amid Ganja Giggle Garden Event
On April 29, 2024, The Woods West Hollywood hosted a lively gathering to honor Bill Maher, the cover star of Los Angeles magazine’s April issue. Maher, a co-owner of the dispensary and consumption lounge alongside Woody Harrelson and John McEnroe, welcomed a select group of guests to experience a range of premium cannabis products.
The event took place in The Woods’ Ganja Giggle Garden, an inviting outdoor area featuring lush greenery, a koi pond, and communal seating. Attendees enjoyed a selection of dishes from Emporium Thai and refreshing mocktails as they mingled amid the tranquil setting. The venue has been welcoming guests since its opening in 2022 on Santa Monica Blvd.
Notable figures in attendance included Los Angeles publisher Chris Gialanella, editor-in-chief Shirley Halperin, senior editor Lina Lecaro, Fox 11 anchor Elex Michaelson, CAA head of television Steve Lafferty, alongside Real Time With Bill Maher executive producers Sheila Griffiths and Marc Gurvitz, as well as actor Yves Bright.
During a conversation with Michaelson for Fox 11’s The Issue Is, Maher commented on the state of current politics, which he believes provides ample material for comedy. “When Obama was President, the left was not funny,” he noted, adding, “Obama was good — great — the president was not a buffoon and there was little place to make fun of. And then wokeism came along, which … is not an extension of liberalism mostly — it started out as a noble thing but veered off into some really weird areas [where] they took everything 10 subway stops too far — and it gave comedians a lot to work with. If you’re gonna say men can get pregnant, we’re gonna make jokes about it.”
The Woods prides itself on being a “full-service” dispensary, with budtenders available to guide guests in selecting products that best meet their needs, whether it be flower, edibles, or cannabis-infused beverages. The space features comfortable seating and offers non-THC drinks, as well as essential accessories such as ashtrays, lighters, grinders, and rolling papers at each table. Additionally, cabanas can be rented for 90-minute increments at a rate of $150, accommodating eight to ten individuals.
