Beyoncé Teams Up with Sabrina Carpenter, LISA, and Doja Cat for the 2026 Met Gala Hosting Committee
Upcoming Met Gala to Feature Beyoncé as Co-Chair
Pop superstar Beyoncé is set to co-chair the 2026 Met Gala, a prestigious event in the fashion calendar. Known for her effortless style, Beyoncé’s ability to elevate a simple white tee and Levi’s jeans makes her an ideal choice for this role. However, attendees can expect her to don something considerably more extravagant for the occasion.
The announcement, made on Wednesday, Dec. 10, reveals that Beyoncé will share co-chair duties with Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and tennis champion Venus Williams. Vogue showcased the announcement on Instagram with a video accompanied by Claude Debussy’s “Claire de Lune,” featuring a striking graphic that introduces the theme for the night: “Costume Art.”
The caption accompanying the video states, “At the 2026 #MetGala, the @MetMuseum will celebrate its spring @MetCostumeInstitute exhibition, titled ‘Costume Art.’ Major forces from the worlds of entertainment, sport, and, of course, fashion will host the fête.”
Additionally, Vogue has disclosed that Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz will lead the 2026 Met Gala Host Committee. Current members of the committee include notable figures such as Sabrina Carpenter, LISA of BLACKPINK, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Misty Copeland, Alex Consani, and many others.
The theme of “Costume Art,” aligned with a corresponding exhibit at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art curated by Andrew Bolton, aims to delve into the connection between clothing and the body it adorns. The exhibition will explore various thematic body types, such as the Naked Body, the Pregnant Body, and the Aging Body.
Beyoncé’s fans are particularly thrilled about this announcement, as it marks her return to the Met Gala since 2016. That year, she honored the “Manus x Machina” theme with a stunning beaded peach Givenchy Haute Couture gown. The previous year, she captivated attendees in a sheer, colorful masterpiece that fit perfectly with the theme “China: Through The Looking Glass.”
In prior years, Beyoncé has also made headlines with her bold fashion choices, including an elegant black design for the “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” exhibit in 2014 and a striking black-and-gold ensemble for the “Punk: Chaos to Couture” theme in 2013.
The anticipation surrounding the 2026 Met Gala is already building, with fans eagerly awaiting the spectacle of fashion, art, and celebrity.
