Beyoncé Reaches Billionaire Status, Joining Jay-Z on Forbes Elite List
Beyoncé Joins Elite Ranks of Billionaires
Pop icon Beyoncé has officially entered the Forbes list of global billionaires, becoming the fifth musician to do so alongside stars such as Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, and Rihanna. This announcement came from Forbes today.
Beyoncé’s ascent into the "three comma" club is attributed to her successful tours, albums, and associated revenue streams. Notably, her Cowboy Carter Tour, which concluded in July, grossed over $400 million in ticket sales, with merchandise sales contributing an additional estimated $50 million. A special halftime performance for Netflix’s first Christmas Day NFL game a year ago reportedly netted her around $50 million.
Additionally, her Renaissance World Tour brought in nearly $600 million. The film Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé also contributed approximately $44 million to her earnings, according to Box Office Mojo.
Beyoncé’s business ventures are managed through Parkwood Entertainment, the company she founded in 2010, which includes full rights to her highly valuable music catalog.
In related news, Forbes highlighted earlier this month that director James Cameron has also achieved billionaire status, joining a prestigious group of filmmakers that includes George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, and Tyler Perry. Cameron’s films Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) rank among the top three highest-grossing films of all time. His latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, released on December 19, has already exceeded $760 million in global earnings.
When asked about his billionaire status, Cameron expressed skepticism about the notion. “I wish I was a billionaire,” he stated in a podcast interview. “The billionaire thing assumes certain deals that didn’t exist, one, and, two, that I’ve never spent a dime in 30 years.”
The Forbes real-time billionaires list also includes other notable figures in media and entertainment such as Rupert Murdoch and family, Donald Newhouse, Charlie Ergen, John Malone, David Geffen, Arnon Milchan, Barry Diller, Oprah Winfrey, and Jerry Seinfeld.
Leading the overall billionaires list are tech magnates including Elon Musk, Larry Page, Larry Ellison, Jeff Bezos, Sergey Brin, and Mark Zuckerberg, with Bernard Arnault and family, Jensen Huang, Warren Buffet, and Steve Ballmer rounding out the top ten.
