In 2024, the Globes expanded their categories by adding awards for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television. This year, they introduced a Best Podcast Award, featuring nominees such as Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Smartless, The Mel Robbins Podcast, and Up First.
This brings the total number of Golden Globe categories to 28.
While the winner of Best Original Score will be announced during the broadcast, the presentation will not be included in CBS’s linear coverage. Instead, the winner will be revealed online, with a clip of the announcement shared across various platforms, including X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, and the Golden Globes official website.
The Globes team emphasized that the Best Score category remains a “cornerstone” of the awards, reflecting the organization’s deep appreciation for the art form. “We place tremendous value on this craft and the artists who practice it; their work is essential to the creative excellence we honor at the Golden Globes,” a spokesperson stated. “We greatly appreciate the composers whose work elevates every project we honor and are grateful for the creativity, skill, and impact this community brings to our industry.”
Last year, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won the Best Score award for Challengers.
