In a recent interview, actor Ben Affleck shared an amusing experience from his time at Dunkin’ Donuts, where he humorously trolled customers. This story emerged during a joint interview with longtime friend Matt Damon while they promoted their latest film, The Rip.
Affleck, a known Dunkin’ enthusiast, detailed the incident on the Capital Official radio station, stating, “We were in Medford, Massachusetts and telling people, ‘We don’t have coffee.'” The exchange highlighted his playful nature, even as it sparked laughter about its absurdity.
Damon chimed in about one of Affleck’s past Dunkin’ commercials, noting, “There was actually an amazing one that he did that they couldn’t air because he did a bit where he was telling everybody coming through the drive-through that they didn’t have coffee.”
Affleck’s impersonation of disgruntled customers added another layer of humor. “I didn’t wait an hour for water,” he said, exaggerating the imagined response he received.
This lighthearted banter between the two stars underscores their long-standing friendship that dates back over 40 years. The pair has frequently collaborated on various projects, including a notable partnership in a recent super-sized Dunkin’ commercial for the 2025 Super Bowl. The ad featured them alongside Tom Brady, resurrecting the fictional boyband known as the DunKings.
The DunKings, first introduced in a previous Super Bowl ad featuring Affleck’s ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez, also aligned with Affleck’s recent launch of his own drink, the DunKings Iced Coffee, which debuted nationwide in 2024. This beverage is described as “classic iced coffee with notes of vanilla combined with cream, topped with Sweet Cold Foam and a dusting of cinnamon sugar.”
As the duo reflects on their shared past, Damon noted the unique bond that formed over their mutual passion for filmmaking, despite growing up in a city where such aspirations seemed unlikely. Affleck humorously added, “Presumptuous and nerdy and kind of out of it,” highlighting how their early interests connected them throughout the years.
Their latest project, The Rip, is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
