### Mark Ballas and BC Jean Reflect on Relationship Growth
Mark Ballas and BC Jean recently shared insights into their evolving relationship at Spotify’s Best New Artist Party in Los Angeles on January 29, ahead of the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. The couple, married for nine years, discussed the changes in their love languages since they first met in 2012.
BC Jean, 38, noted that her love language has shifted over time. “Mine used to be physical touch, and it still probably is still up there,” she remarked. However, after retaking a love language assessment lately, she discovered that “acts of service” now ranks as a top priority. Reflecting on their life as parents, she expressed appreciation for simple chores, such as taking out the trash, done by her husband.

Ballas, 39, acknowledged that while physical touch and words of affirmation are significant to him, their experiences as parents have shifted how they celebrate occasions like Valentine’s Day. “It’s an excuse to get a sitter and go and treat ourselves,” he remarked.
The couple met at a friend’s gathering where Jean impressed Ballas with her singing. “He couldn’t see me; he could only hear me,” she recalled, expressing how his praise made a difference. Ballas shared his admiration, citing her voice as reminiscent of Janis Joplin, which ultimately drew him to her.
Following their initial meeting, the couple began dating in 2012, realizing their chemistry extended beyond the stage. They got engaged in November 2015 and exchanged wedding vows the following November. Seven years later, they welcomed their son, Banksi Wylde.
BC Jean noted their synergy in musical creativity, stating, “We’re each other’s muses.” She highlighted the unique dynamic they share: “For some people, spending that much time together doesn’t work out, but for Mark and I, we’re a balancing act. When one’s down, the other picks them up.”
