Austin Reaves of the Lakers Out for at Least a Week Due to Calf Injury
Lakers Guard Austin Reaves Sustains Mild Calf Strain
Los Angeles Lakers star guard Austin Reaves has been diagnosed with a mild left calf strain, the team announced following practice on Friday. He is set to be re-evaluated in approximately one week.
Reaves is having a standout season, averaging 27.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game. He currently leads the Lakers in total minutes played this season, particularly shining during periods when fellow stars LeBron James and Luka Doncic were absent from the lineup. Reaves ranks ninth in the NBA in scoring and is positioned to earn his first All-Star selection as he approaches a pivotal contract decision this offseason.
As a result of the injury, Reaves will miss at least Sunday’s game against the Phoenix Suns, along with road games in Utah on December 18 and at the Clippers on December 20. Following another matchup against the Suns on December 23, the Lakers will enter a stretch of five consecutive home games, beginning with a notable Christmas Day game against the Houston Rockets.
