Atiya Henry from Netflix Takes on New Role as EVP of Production at Disney Branded Television After Susette Hsiung’s Retirement
Atiya Henry Joins Disney Branded Television as EVP of Production
Atiya Henry, a seasoned production executive formerly with Netflix, has been appointed as the Executive Vice President of Production at Disney Branded Television. In her new role, she will report to Carol Turner, the Head of Production for Disney Entertainment Television, and will also be an integral part of the senior leadership team under Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television.
Henry takes over from Susette Hsiung, who retired at the end of 2025 after a distinguished 28-year tenure with The Walt Disney Company. Hsiung previously served as EVP of Studio Production and Network Programming Operations for Disney Branded Television and was also the Head of Production for Disney Channel.
In her position, Henry will oversee production for Disney Branded Television’s various animated and live-action offerings across platforms, including Disney+, Disney Jr., and Disney Channel. This portfolio features popular franchises such as Descendants, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Phineas and Ferb.
“Atiya is a highly accomplished production executive who knows how to bring ambitious storytelling to life,” Ayo Davis and Carol Turner stated in a joint announcement. “Her experience across a wide range of genres and her collaborative leadership style make her an ideal partner to our production and creative teams as we continue to build the industry’s most ambitious slate for kids and families.”
Before her transition to Disney, Henry spent seven years at Netflix, where she served as manager and then director of physical production for the drama series division. During her tenure, she oversaw productions for notable shows such as Firefly Lane, Sweet Magnolias, Ransom Canyon, Raising Dion, and the upcoming reboot of Little House on the Prairie.
Henry’s career also includes significant production roles at Annapurna Pictures and BET Networks/Viacom. “Disney has played an important role in shaping many of the most iconic stories for kids and families around the world,” Henry remarked. “It’s truly an honor to join a team that is defining the space for future generations. I’m excited to partner with Ayo, Carol, and the talented Disney Branded Television team to help deliver stories that audiences will grow up with and carry with them for years to come.”
