Arlene Silver Shares Heartwarming Details About Dick Van Dyke’s Special 100th Birthday Celebration

Fans and friends celebrated as Dick Van Dyke’s 100th birthday was deemed “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” The milestone was reached on Saturday, Dec. 13, in a celebration filled with joy.

To honor this significant day, Arlene Silver organized a lively flash mob featuring a medley of her husband’s beloved songs. The event took place at their Malibu, California home and included family and friends, with production handled by Chris Isaacson Presents.

“It went so perfect — just everything,” Silver said of the celebrations, adding, “And he was so happy. His face, I love to make him have that face.”

She further expressed her feelings of relief and gratitude, stating, “This felt so perfect,” as she reflected on the emotional impact of the event.

Ahead of his birthday, Van Dyke shared what surprised him most about reaching the century mark: “The fact that I made it.” He expressed satisfaction with his health, noting, “I feel really good for 100,” while adding that he sometimes has more energy than others but never wakes up in a bad mood.

Despite the grand celebrations, Silver previously mentioned that her husband’s ideal birthday was quite low-key. “He doesn’t want to do anything,” she explained, stating that he prefers to relax and enjoy Jeopardy! reruns at home.

To mark his significant milestone, Van Dyke has also released a book entitled 100 Rules for Living to 100, chronicling the ups and downs of his extraordinary life. Additionally, the celebration continues with screenings of Dick Van Dyke: A 100th Celebration, which are scheduled in local theaters for the birthday weekend.

The Van Dyke Endowment of the Arts and the Malibu Film Society are collaborating to present VANDY DAYS!: Celebrating Dick Van Dyke’s 100th Birthday, a citywide celebration honoring the legendary actor.
