Speculation is swirling among fans that two of Megan Moroney’s upcoming songs may be inspired by Riley Green.
On January 12, the “6 Months Later” artist shared an Instagram teaser of her new single “Wish I Didn’t.” In the post, Moroney, 28, expressed her excitement for the release, writing, “🩷 WISH I DIDN’T OUT FRIDAY 🩷” while wearing a pink, star-emblazoned pullover.
The teaser included a snippet of the lyrics, which hint at themes of revenge on a former love, including lines such as, “You’ve got a hell of a reputation / So here I am patiently waiting / For that other shoe… or should I say boot to drop.” Additionally, she croons about the character traits of a potential partner and warns, “Don’t make me wish I didn’t get dressed up…”
Fans quickly connected the lyrics to Green’s 2024 track titled “Make It Rain,” with one commenter noting, “THE RILEY DIG!!” Another remarked, “This has Mr. Green written all over it!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Love to hate it or hate to love it!”
Comments on the post suggested that Moroney’s lyric “make it rain” might allude to Green’s previous work, fueling speculation about their relationship. One user pointed out her sunglasses in the teaser and observed a potential reference to a photo of Green with a reflection believed to include a woman resembling Moroney, suggesting they may have vacationed together.
In a TikTok interview shared the same day, Moroney discussed her new track “Who Hurt You?” and described it as particularly vulnerable. She explained that the lyrics are direct, stating, “Bar for bar, didn’t lie, said everything so that I don’t have to answer interview questions about the situation.” Given her candidness, she urged listeners to hear the song, implying that there should be “no further questions” on the topic.

In early 2025, Moroney was romantically linked to Green, 37, as fans speculated about their vacation together. However, by March, during an appearance on the *In the Blind* podcast, Green stated he was “single.” Previous relationships had linked him to singer Ella Langley, with whom he has collaborated on a couple of tracks.
Moroney’s third studio album, *Cloud 9*, will be available on February 20.
