Arclight Studios and Hollywood Expansion Corporation Team Up for Heartwarming Rescue Dog Story ‘Ethan Almighty’
Arclight Studios and Hollywood Expansion Corporation Secure Global Rights to ‘Ethan Almighty’
Arclight Studios and Hollywood Expansion Corporation have announced their acquisition of worldwide rights to the feature film Ethan Almighty. The film draws inspiration from the true story of a rescue dog whose plight captured national attention and played a role in enacting significant legislative change.
Written and directed by Tane McClure, Ethan Almighty is currently in production in Kentucky. The film features a cast that includes Sean Patrick Flanery, Selma Blair, Finley Rose Slater, Brandon Routh, Trevor Donovan, and Kelly Sullivan, with further casting announcements expected in the near future.
Flanery portrays Jeff Callaway, a real-life animal rights activist who rescued Ethan, a severely abused dog found abandoned in 2021 at the Kentucky Humane Society in Louisville. Ethan’s harrowing journey from emaciation and near-death to recovery resonated with the public, leading to increased awareness of animal cruelty. Callaway’s bond with Ethan during the months of rehabilitation became a focal point, culminating in the passage of “Ethan’s Law” in Kentucky, which bolstered penalties for animal abuse and enhanced protections for abused animals statewide.
Positioning Ethan Almighty not just as an inspirational film but also as a brand dedicated to impact, the collaboration between Arclight Studios and Hollywood Expansion Corporation extends beyond traditional film distribution. The companies aim to leverage Arclight’s robust international sales, finance, and distribution network to maximize opportunities in theatrical releases, streaming platforms, and television, while also expanding the narrative into a broader franchise that promotes compassion and animal welfare.
Hollywood Expansion Corporation, under the leadership of Stephanie Garvin and Marie Ralston, is also focused on developing Ethan Almighty into a multi-platform inspirational brand. This initiative will encompass charitable efforts, licensing opportunities, audience engagement campaigns, and programs to raise awareness about rescue animals, all geared toward creating a lasting global impact.
“This film is about hope, resilience, healing, and the profound impact compassion can have on both people and animals,” Garvin commented. “The true story behind Ethan Almighty has already inspired millions, and we believe this film will continue that impact globally.”
McClure expressed his admiration for the emotional narrative, stating, “What drew me to this story was the incredible emotional connection between Ethan and Jeff. Their journey represents perseverance, unconditional love, and the ability for one story to create real change in the world.”
McClure is producing the film through McClure Films, alongside Michelle Alexandria for Light Year Pictures, Stephanie Garvin, and Lisanne Canty of Harrington Legacy Media. Executive producers include Gary Hamilton and Ying Ye for Arclight, Convoke Media, and Michael Olsen of Motion Media Group.
With filming underway and international buyers gathering in Cannes this week, Ethan Almighty is already being recognized as one of the most anticipated inspirational films in the global marketplace, blending impactful storytelling with a real-world movement centered on healing, resilience, and compassion.
