Apple Martin Channels Gwyneth Paltrow in Vintage Calvin Klein Dress at NYC Premiere
Apple Martin, the 21-year-old daughter of actress Gwyneth Paltrow and musician Chris Martin, made a striking appearance at the Marty Supreme premiere in New York City on December 16. Dressed in a vintage Calvin Klein dress that once belonged to her mother, Apple showcased her keen eye for fashion.
The body-hugging dress featured a deep scoop neck and thin halter straps that crisscrossed at the back, perfectly aligning with modern style sensibilities. Apple complemented her look with diamond stud earrings and opted for a fresh makeup palette that highlighted her natural beauty, including a dewy finish, blushed cheeks, and pearly eyeshadow. Her blonde hair was elegantly styled in a chic updo.
On the red carpet, Apple was joined by her mother and brother, Moses, 19. Paltrow donned a sophisticated black dress with a velvet top and a thigh-high slit, paired with bold red lipstick and expertly applied makeup that included long lashes and bronzed cheeks. She wore her hair in a low ponytail, with face-framing strands left loose. Moses added a youthful flair to the family ensemble with a gray blazer, a blue-and-white gingham dress shirt, and a striped tie, finishing his outfit with white trousers.
Interestingly, Paltrow wore the same sleek Calvin Klein dress at an event in 1996, also accessorized with just diamond stud earrings. While Paltrow’s style from the ’90s featured smokey eyes and a more dramatic hairdo, Apple’s modern interpretation reflected a softer aesthetic.
In an April interview with Interview Magazine, Apple expressed her admiration for her mother’s fashion choices, revealing her fondness for the vintage Calvin Klein pieces. “My absolute favorite stuff is her old Calvin Klein from the ’90s,” she remarked. “I have a lot of it, and it’s the best thing in the world. Going into her archive closet is just heaven on earth.” She appreciated her mother’s supportive attitude towards sharing clothes, noting, “She lets me steal stuff because she’s like, ‘I saved it all so that you could steal it.’”
As Apple embarks on defining her own style, she reflects on her evolving fashion journey. “I feel like my style hasn’t been fully actualized yet, but I’m slowly getting more into it,” she said. The recent photo shoot that inspired her to embrace bold fashion choices included pleated mini skirts, cropped sweaters, and various chic outfits.
Adding to her fond fashion memories, Apple fondly recalled her mother’s viral ‘90s look in a cheetah-print coat, exclaiming, “I love that.”
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin began their relationship in 2002, marrying in 2003. The couple separated in 2014, finalizing their divorce in 2016.
