Anton hires Jamie Schwartz, a former Sky and Focus executive, to enhance marketing and publicity for ‘Greenland’ outfit
Anton Appoints Jamie Schwartz as Director of Marketing and Brands
Anton, the production outfit based in Greenland, has announced the appointment of Jamie Schwartz as the new Director of Marketing and Brands. This role, which is newly created, positions Schwartz in London where he will report to CEO Sébastien Raybaud.
In his new capacity, Schwartz will lead marketing and publicity efforts while developing Anton’s global marketing and brand strategies for both film and television. His responsibilities will encompass a variety of projects from Anton’s slate, including My Darling California, a dark comedy crime-thriller featuring Jessica Chastain and Josh Brolin; In Love, directed by Paul Weitz and starring George Clooney and Annette Bening; the psychological horror film Victorian Psycho, featuring Maika Monroe and Thomasin Mckenzie; and the survival thriller A Prayer for the Dying, starring Johnny Flynn and John C. Reilly.
Schwartz joins Anton following the departure of Karina Gechtman, the former VP of Marketing and Publicity, who left the company late last year.
Previously, Schwartz held the position of Director of Movies Marketing at Sky, where he oversaw the theatrical releases of Lee and Nuremberg. He has also crafted marketing campaigns for major series such as The Last of Us, Succession, House of the Dragon, and The White Lotus for Now TV. His experience at Focus included work on international releases for films like Darkest Hour, BlacKkKlansman, Downton Abbey, Phantom Thread, and Lady Bird.
In a significant move, Anton recently secured €100 million ($108 million) in funding led by BlackRock, aimed at bolstering its presence as a pan-European studio focused on commercial English-language films, particularly within the action, thriller, elevated horror, and science fiction genres.
Recent Anton projects include David Mackenzie’s thriller Fuze, featuring Theo James and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and the Oscar-nominated animation Memoir of a Snail. The company also released Greenland: Migration, starring Gerard Butler, over the weekend, continuing the story from the original Greenland film.
Raybaud praised Schwartz’s wealth of experience, stating, "Jamie brings a wealth of experience to the role and is the ideal executive to spearhead global marketing and brand strategy for our growing slate of films and series. He has an extraordinary track record with deep relationships in the industry, and we are delighted that he is joining the senior team at Anton."
Echoing this sentiment, Schwartz expressed his enthusiasm for his new role: "I was immediately struck by Anton’s ambitious slate and can’t wait to dive right in. I’m excited by the ambition to create best-in-class marketing campaigns and strengthen the impact of Anton’s brand around the world."
