Angel City Starts Season Strong with 3-0 Win Over Houston
Angel City FC Secures 2-1 Victory Against Houston Dash
Angel City FC achieved a memorable 2-1 victory over the Houston Dash at BMO Stadium on Friday night, with Riley Tiernan netting the decisive goal. The win marks a stellar start to the season for Angel City, who have triumphed in all three of their opening matches, establishing a franchise record.
The Dash initially took the lead early in the game, with Maggie Graham scoring her first goal of the season in the 10th minute. However, the momentum shifted in the second half, as Sveindís Jónsdóttir struck in the 47th minute, sending a powerful shot into the upper corner of the net and marking Houston’s first goal conceded this season.
Two minutes later, Tiernan capitalized on a scramble in front of the goal to score, solidifying her reputation with four career-winning goals.
Angel City, coming off a 3-1 win against Bay FC the previous weekend—where Jónsdóttir was named NWSL Player of the Week—has demonstrated remarkable consistency and skill this season. In contrast, the Dash faced their first defeat, having previously secured a 3-0 win against the expansion Boston Legacy.
Last season, Angel City bested the Dash in both encounters, and this latest victory continues to build on that trend, showcasing the team’s prospects for the season ahead.
