Andreas Hjertø Concludes His Five-Year Journey as Regional Manager at Prime Video Nordics
Andreas Hjertø Steps Down as Head of Content Acquisitions for Prime Video Nordics
Andreas Hjertø, the head of content acquisitions for Prime Video in the Nordics, has announced his departure after five years with the company. In a LinkedIn post, Hjertø expressed excitement for future projects while noting that his last day will be January 19.
Previously, Hjertø held the title of Regional Manager, succeeding Martin Backlund as content chief last year. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing investments, programming, and partnerships, collaborating closely with the team focused on local originals.
In his farewell note, Hjertø reflected on his experience: “What a ride. It has been incredibly fun to be allowed to help start a streaming service in the Nordics, but after five years it is time for new challenges. We have invested massively in Nordic content both directly and indirectly, and I believe we have created a streaming service that will continue to do so for a long time to come.”
He emphasized the importance of fostering a stable platform, aiming for long-term success over quick wins. “It has been important to me to build something stable that is not just looking for quick wins, but that can collaborate locally to become part of the ecosystem and contribute positively. And I think we have largely succeeded in that.”
Andrew Bennett, Vice President of Prime Video Europe & Global Business Development, commended Hjertø’s contributions, stating that he played a crucial role in enhancing Prime Video’s presence in the Nordics. Bennett described Hjertø as a trusted leader who became a pivotal reference point for the Nordic markets within the organization. His efforts included establishing local productions and securing several strategic deals.
Hjertø’s departure marks another significant transition for Prime Video in the Nordics. In August 2022, it was reported that Emilia Widstrand would replace Karin Lindström as Head of Nordic Originals, with Lindström subsequently joining HBO Max.
Prime Video Nordics has produced several original titles, including local adaptations of LOL: Last One Laughing, Roast on the Coast, Snake Killer, and Vaka. Hjertø also played a key role in acquiring nine original productions initially slated for Viaplay.
