Amma Asante, Simon Curtis, Gurinder Chadha, and Shane Meadows Coming Together for ‘London, I Love You’
Amma Asante, Simon Curtis, Gurinder Chadha, Shane Meadows, Anand Tucker, Neil Marshall, and Rufus Norris are set to collaborate on London, I Love You, the fifth installment in the Cities of Love franchise, which has previously celebrated cities like Paris, New York, Rio, and Berlin.
Each director will contribute by writing and directing a short film set in London, with more directors in discussions to join the project. Production is scheduled to commence in April 2026.
Chadha has ties to the franchise, having directed a segment titled Quais de Seine in the original 2006 film Paris, I Love You, which featured actress Leïla Bekhti.
While casting details are still pending, previous installments have boasted star-studded lineups. Paris, I Love You included actors such as Steve Buscemi, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe, Elijah Wood, and Olga Kurylenko. The 2019 sequel, Berlin, I Love You, featured talents like Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley, Mickey Rourke, and Diego Luna.
Producing the film are David Gilbery and Naomi George of BK Studios, Tom Butterfield from Culmination Productions, and Mark Wheeler of Pathfinder. Culmination’s Harry White is responsible for worldwide sales, while Emmanuel Benbihy continues his role as Executive Producer, guiding the Cities of Love series.
“London stands as a living heartbeat of hope, resilience, and love, a city where millions of stories intersect every day. From a chance encounter on the Tube, in the parks, and through the bustling streets, from Hampstead to Brixton, and Hackney to Notting Hill, London is a tapestry woven from every culture and generation,” said Butterfield.
Benbihy expressed enthusiasm for the latest addition to the franchise: “The London installment of the Cities of Love will celebrate the birthplace of some of cinema’s most beloved romantic comedies, paying tribute to that uniquely British blend of wit, warmth, and longing, where humour and heartbreak often walk hand in hand.”
Culmination Productions, led by Tom Butterfield and Harry White, is currently in post-production on the thriller Double Blind, featuring LaKeith Stanfield and directed by John Hyams. The studio previously collaborated with BK Studios on Anand Tucker’s period thriller The Critic.
BK Studios has produced notable titles, including the fantasy drama Eternal Return starring Naomi Scott and Kit Harington, The Critic with Ian McKellen and Gemma Arterton, and The Shepherd featuring John Travolta. The studio is in production on the romantic comedy Frank & Percy, starring Ian McKellen and Roger Allam.
Pathfinder, an independent studio, has managed library rights for the Robert E. Howard catalogue on behalf of Funcom/Tencent, and has financed or produced various projects, including Blood Drive (SyFy), When You Get to the Forest (with Cartuna/OCN), and the upcoming production Mutant Year Zero.
