Amazon Shares Exciting News About a U.S. Version of ‘LOL: Last One Laughing’ at Reality TV Summit
LOL: Last One Laughing is an Amazon-owned show that has been adapted in over 25 countries, yet it has not been produced in the United States.
That may soon change.
Jenn Levy, Amazon’s Head of Nonfiction Series, revealed that since assuming her role earlier this year, the most frequent question she receives is about the possibility of a U.S. version of the show.
Originally created in Japan as Documental, the format has successfully launched in countries including Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, the Philippines, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, and the UK.
The UK iteration has garnered significant acclaim. Hosted by Jimmy Carr and Roisin Conaty, it features a lineup of comedians such as Bob Mortimer, Richard Ayoade, Rob Beckett, Lou Sanders, Harriet Kemsley, Daisy May Cooper, Judi Love, Joe Wilkinson, Joe Lycett, and Sara Pascoe in its first season. Season two included Mortimer alongside David Mitchell, Sam Campbell, Mel Giedroyc, Romesh Ranganathan, Diane Morgan, Amy Gledhill, Maisie Adam, Alan Carr, and Gbemisola Ikumelo.

LOL: Last One Laughing challenges ten comedians to spend the day together without smiling. Throughout the series, they employ their comedic skills in a bid to make each other laugh, all while trying to maintain their own composure.
