Amazon MGM Studios Develops New Series Based on Vivian Tu’s Bestseller
Amazon MGM Studios has announced the development of a new series titled Rich AF, inspired by Vivian Tu’s bestselling book, Rich AF: The Winning Money Mindset That Will Change Your Life. The project is being brought to life by Mallory Rosenthal, Sarah Kucserka, and Patrick Moran from PKM Productions.
Rich AF tells the story of 23-year-old Lia, a billionaire’s daughter and an up-and-coming finance professional. The series follows her dramatic fall from grace after revealing her father’s white-collar crimes, forcing her to rebuild her life from the ground up. As she navigates the shift from a luxurious lifestyle to a more modest existence, Lia discovers that true wealth extends beyond financial status.
Moran and Lynley Bird of PKM Productions are spearheading the project under their first-look agreement with Amazon. They will also serve as executive producers.
Rosenthal, who is credited as the show’s creator and writer, will collaborate with Kucserka, the series’ showrunner, as well as Tu, who will serve as an executive producer.
“Rich AF is a love letter to anyone who has ever felt broke, lost, and like they wanted to hit the redo button on life,” Tu remarked. “I’m so grateful to be working with PKM, Sarah, Mallory, and the phenomenal Amazon MGM Studios team to bring the energy and empowerment of Rich AF to life on screen.”
Rosenthal has previously written for Midnight Sun, an upcoming animated adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s novel, and the YA drama series Panic for Prime Video. She is represented by WME and Amplified Management.
Kucserka co-created and executive produced High Fidelity, featuring Zoe Kravitz on Hulu, and recently served as showrunner for seasons 2 and 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty on Amazon. Her extensive background also includes work on Panic and consulting for Disney+’s Big Shot.
Vivian Tu, recognized in the Time 100 and Forbes 30 Under 30 lists, serves as Chief of Financial Empowerment at SoFi and was honored as Forbes’ Top Creator of the Year in 2022 and 2023. As a New York Times bestselling author, her latest book, Well Endowed: The Secrets to Strategic Spending, Building a Financial Foundation for You and Your Family, and Creating Lasting Generational Wealth, recently achieved No. 4 on the NYT bestseller list.
Moran has been with Amazon under a first-look deal since 2019, developing scripted content for the platform. He currently serves as executive producer for The Rainmaker, a legal thriller based on John Grisham’s work. Before founding PKM, Moran was the President of ABC Studios, where he oversaw several notable series including black-ish, Grey’s Anatomy, and Scandal. He is represented by Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light LLP.
