Alfie Allen Joins Cast of MGM+’s The Institute
Tony and Emmy-nominated Alfie Allen, known for his role in Game of Thrones, is set to join the cast of Season 2 of The Institute, a thriller horror series on MGM+. The show, based on a Stephen King novel, is currently in production in Halifax.
In the upcoming season, Allen will portray Nolan Reeves, an eccentric European tech billionaire who serves as one of the financial backers of the Institute, driven by his own ambitious agenda.
Season 2 continues the story from the Season 1 finale, focusing on Luke Ellis (Joe Freeman), Tim Jamieson (Ben Barnes), and their fellow survivors. As they strive to uncover the Institute’s dark secrets, they must evade a relentless army of killers. Meanwhile, the calculating Ms. Sigsby (Mary-Louise Parker) is on her own quest for vengeance and power, delving deeper into the Institute’s inner workings than she ever anticipated.
Allen joins a talented ensemble that includes returning cast members Simone Miller, Fionn Laird, Robert Joy, Arlen So, Jeff Fahey, and Hannah Galway.
The Institute is produced by executive producer Stephen King, along with director and executive producer Jack Bender (Lost, Game of Thrones) and executive producer and writer Benjamin Cavell (Justified, The Stand). The series will debut exclusively on MGM+ across various territories, including the U.S., UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Colombia. Distribution in other international markets will be handled by Amazon MGM Studios Distribution.
Allen, widely recognized for his portrayal of Theon Greyjoy, recently completed work on Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi series 3 Body Problem. His television credits also include the Paramount+ limited series Girl Taken, Sky’s Atomic, Mark Williams’ Safe Harbour, and Steven Knight’s Rogue Heroes. His film work features titles like Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit, John Wick, and the reboot of The Predator. He is represented by CAA, The Artists Partnership, and Untitled Entertainment.
