Alberto Barbera Continues as Artistic Director of the Venice Film Festival Through 2028
Alberto Barbera has been reappointed as Artistic Director of the Venice Film Festival for the 2027 and 2028 editions. His current term is set to conclude after the 83rd festival this year.
The festival’s renewal was confirmed by the board of directors of La Biennale di Venezia, led by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco.
In its announcement, the board stated that the decision was based on Barbera’s achievements, which include enhancing the quality of film selections, promoting new talents on the international stage, advancing the culture of cinema, and expanding audience reach.
Barbera has been at the helm of La Biennale di Venezia since 2012, following an earlier term from 1998 to 2001.
