Alan Cumming Shares Heartfelt Thoughts on His Friendship with Lisa Kudrow After Her Time100 Tribute

Alan Cumming Reflects on Friendship with Lisa Kudrow
Alan Cumming is sharing insights into his enduring friendship with Lisa Kudrow, a bond that has spanned several years and projects. During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at the Time100 Gala on April 23, Cumming, 61, expressed his admiration for Kudrow, 62, particularly in light of her tribute to him in Time’s list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2026.
“I didn’t know it was going to be her. … They don’t tell you. And so it was just such a lovely surprise,” Cumming remarked. “And you know, everything that she said about me, I completely feel about her.”
In her heartfelt tribute, Kudrow noted that Cumming is “just as spectacular in person as he is on your television screen.” She further described how his presence lights up a room, saying, “He steps into the room, and you just can’t help but think, ‘Yes. Glorious.’ Everything about him is thrilling.” Kudrow emphasized his authentic nature, explaining that being around him feels like a “celebration.”
“The Alan I know off-screen is sweet, bubbly, and friendly,” she concluded, adding that Cumming embodies joy and positivity.
Cumming reflected on the strong connection he formed with Kudrow while filming the 1997 comedy Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. “And we see each other sporadically, and work together sporadically. But I just always think of her as a really good friend,” he stated.
He recalled an emotional moment when Kudrow hosted a panel for The Traitors in 2025, expressing how moved he was by her presence at the event.
Kudrow had previously praised Cumming’s talent during a recent interview with Vanity Fair, calling him a “force” and recalling how thrilled she was to work with him on Romy and Michele. She described him as “fun and light,” exuding a certain "joie de vivre."
“It’s a lovely thing about knowing someone for a really long time, and having it be a genuine friendship,” Cumming added, capturing the essence of their bond.
