The 2026 Golden Globe for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology, or Motion Picture Made for Television has been awarded.
On Sunday, Jan. 11, Adolescence claimed the title at the 83rd annual ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Co-creator Jack Thorne accepted the award, expressing gratitude to Netflix and acknowledging support from several individuals involved in the series.
“Some think our show is about how we should be frightened of young people,” Thorne stated. “It’s not. It’s about the filth and the debris we have laid in their path. It is impossible to highlight anyone else in our extraordinary cast and crew, but our young company, Owen [Cooper], Amari [Bacchus], Amélie [Pease], Fatima [Bojang], and Kaine [Davis], are proof the world can be better.”
Thorne concluded, “Removing hate is our generation’s responsibility. It requires thought from the top down. The possibility seems remote right now, but hope is a beautiful thing. Thank you for this. We will treasure you.”

Other nominees in the same category included All Her Fault, The Beast in Me, Black Mirror, Dying for Sex, and The Girlfriend.
Adolescence presents a gripping narrative surrounding a British family whose 13-year-old son, Jamie Miller (Cooper), is arrested for the murder of a classmate.
This Netflix drama garnered five nominations across four categories at this year’s Golden Globes, including Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology, or Motion Picture Made for Television for Stephen Graham, Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television (Erin Doherty), and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television (Ashley Waters and Cooper). Graham, Doherty, and Cooper all secured wins.
In his acceptance speech, 16-year-old Cooper reflected on his recognition. “Wow, standing here with a Golden Globe, it does not feel real whatsoever,” he noted. “What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through. We are forever grateful for what these people have done for me and my family. What started off as, what I thought was, ‘I might be okay, I might be awful. I never know.’ So I took a risk and went to drama classes.”
He added, “I was the only boy there. It was embarrassing. But I got through it, and I’m still very much an apprentice. I’m learning every day from the people who have inspired me.”
