Peter Greene, Actor Known for ‘Pulp Fiction,’ Dies in Manhattan Apartment
Peter Greene, known for his memorable role as Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on December 12. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City, Greene died from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the left armpit.
The 66-year-old actor was discovered in his Lower East Side home after a neighbor alerted the landlord and police for a wellness check. Neighbors had reported hearing Christmas music emanating from Greene’s apartment for several days prior.
Originally from Montclair, New Jersey, Greene had openly shared his struggles with addiction but had reportedly maintained sobriety for several years at the time of his death.
Greene began his acting career with an episode of NBC’s Hardball in 1990 and made his feature film debut in the 1992 movie Laws of Gravity. In addition to Pulp Fiction, Greene’s notable performances included portraying Dorian Tyrell, the antagonist opposite Jim Carrey in The Mask.
On television, he was a regular on NBC’s The Black Donnellys and had recurring roles in ABC’s Life on Mars and NBC’s Chicago P.D. Recently, he appeared in an episode of the John Wick prequel series, The Continental.
