A$AP Rocky Discusses His Relationship with Rihanna
In a recent interview on the New York Times Popcast, A$AP Rocky shared insights into his relationship with Rihanna, emphasizing the pivotal role his mother played in their romance.
The 37-year-old rapper revealed that his mother encouraged him to pursue Rihanna, describing her intuition as spot-on. “I’m thankful that [Rihanna] was put in my life at that time because any time prior to that I don’t think I was ready for something like that. I don’t think she was either,” Rocky expressed during the interview, which was published on January 15.
Rocky elaborated on the transformative power of a significant other, stating, “A woman will change your whole life, especially if it’s a companion.” He added that being with Rihanna felt like “taking a blindfold off.”
He acknowledged the unique connection they share, noting, “We were on the same page. Born the same year. My dad is from her country,” highlighting their cultural ties and similarities.
Expressing his admiration for Rihanna, Rocky emphasized her significance in his life, stating, “She’s always been my boo. I’ve always f—ed with her.” He recalled his mother frequently suggesting he should be with Rihanna, even when he was involved with someone else. “Mothers know best,” he remarked, acknowledging that his mother’s foresight was proven right.
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna maintained a close friendship for nearly a decade before entering a romantic relationship. Their relationship was officially confirmed in November 2020, and since then, they have become parents to three children: sons RZA Athelston, 5½, and Riot Rose, 2, along with their 4-month-old daughter Rocki Irish.
Looking ahead, A$AP Rocky is set to release his fourth album, Don’t Be Dumb, on January 16, which is anticipated to showcase his evolving artistry.
