A24 Brings On ‘Heartstopper’ Producer Patrick Walters from See-Saw
A24 Appoints Patrick Walters to UK TV Team
In a strategic move to enhance its global television slate, A24 has welcomed Patrick Walters, the creative force behind acclaimed series Heartstopper and Sweetpea, to its UK television division. Walters previously served at See-Saw Films, where he led the in-house label Fanboy.
Based in London, Walters will join the recently appointed senior team of Laura Lankester and Will Johnston. He will work under the leadership of Piers Wenger and Rose Garnett, who head A24’s UK operations.
Walters has an extensive background in television production, having joined See-Saw Films in 2014. He played a pivotal role as the lead producer for the Emmy-winning Heartstopper, a Netflix series featuring Kit Connor and Joe Locke, which has successfully aired for three seasons, concluding with a feature-length finale this year. His other significant credits include Sweetpea on Sky Atlantic/Starz, now in post-production for its second season, and The Essex Serpent on Apple TV+, starring Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston. Walters has also contributed to the development of series such as The North Water for BBC Two and Slow Horses for Apple TV+.
Looking ahead, A24’s upcoming UK TV slate features Major Players by Molly Manning Walker for Channel 4, The Husbands by Miriam Battye on Apple TV+, starring Juno Temple, Leo Reich’s It Gets Worse (Channel 4), Michaela Coel’s First Day On Earth (BBC/HBO), and Alice Birch’s The Ministry of Time (BBC). Additional series include Dreaming Whilst Black and Such Brave Girls.
A24’s broader spring television slate also encompasses anticipated titles such as Euphoria on HBO, Beef on Netflix, and Margo’s Got Money Troubles on Apple TV+. The studio recently premiered its first unscripted series, Neighbors, on HBO, achieving record status as the top unscripted series in HBO Max history. The team has been mobilizing under Ravi Nandan, with Sam French steering U.S. TV initiatives.
