High School Football Honors Announced
The Los Angeles Times has unveiled its top football honors for the 2025 season, spotlighting standout players, coaches, and teams from across Southern California. These recognitions reflect exceptional talent and dedication on the field.
Player of the Year: Trent Mosley
Trent Mosley, a dynamic player for Santa Margarita, has been named the Times’ Football Player of the Year. After a challenging junior season marred by injuries, Mosley returned this year with remarkable speed and athleticism, leading his team to a state championship.
All-Star Football Team
This year’s edition of the Times’ All-Star high school football team features 24 elite players, showcasing the depth of talent in the Los Angeles region. The complete roster highlights the exceptional achievements of these athletes in the 2025 season.
Back of the Year: Luke Fahey
Luke Fahey, the quarterback for Mission Viejo, has earned the title of Football Back of the Year. He led his team to a 9-2 record, exhibiting remarkable precision by completing 71% of his passes with only three interceptions throughout the season.
Lineman of the Year: Braiden McKenna
The Times has recognized Braiden McKenna of Los Alamitos as the Football Lineman of the Year. As a senior center, McKenna was instrumental in the success of his team, contributing to the development of two 1,000-yard rushers for the Southern Section Division 2 champions.
Coach of the Year: Ray Fenton
Ray Fenton has been honored as the Football Coach of the Year for his leadership of Los Alamitos High. Under Fenton’s guidance, the team achieved the Southern Section Division 2 championship, built largely with local talent.
Final Rankings
In closing the season, the Times has released its final Top 25 high school football rankings, with Santa Margarita, under the leadership of first-year coach Carson Palmer, securing the No. 1 spot.
