A Heartfelt Journey: The Relationship of James Lafferty and Alexandra Park from ‘Royals’ to Marriage and Beyond
James Lafferty and Alexandra Park: A Love Story Born on Set
Newly engaged couple James Lafferty and Alexandra Park’s romantic journey began on the set of a television series, evolving from co-stars to life partners. The two first met in 2015 while Lafferty was directing an episode of The Royals, in which Park portrayed Princess Eleanor for all four seasons. Their professional collaboration extended into 2021 with the creation of Everyone Is Doing Great, where they played a married couple.
Lafferty, known for his role in One Tree Hill, directed multiple episodes of The Royals, establishing a connection with Park that would later blossom into romance. Despite keeping their relationship largely private, Lafferty shared his engagement news with followers on social media in September 2020. “She said yeah 🙌🏼☺️,” he posted alongside a photo of the couple in a cozy kitchen setting.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in January 2021, Park explained the couple’s preference for privacy. “We are very private by choice,” she said, adding that they still wish to share moments with their supporters. “We walk the line of putting a little bit out there at times.”
Their collaborative efforts continued as Park noted that they conceived the idea for Everyone Is Doing Great together, which premiered on Hulu in early 2021. “We thought it would just be great [to play a married couple]. The chemistry is in there,” she remarked, expressing gratitude for the ability to work together in a professional capacity that contrasts with their personal relationship.
In May 2021, Lafferty publicly praised Park’s memoir, Sugar High, highlighting her journey with type 1 diabetes and her evolving career. “I couldn’t be more proud/in awe of this woman," he wrote on Instagram. “It’s a raw, honest, funny and inspiring journey.”
One year later, Us Weekly confirmed that Lafferty and Park tied the knot in a scenic ceremony in Hawaii, attended by family and friends, including Lafferty’s former co-star Stephen Colletti as a groomsman. Park was supported by her Royals co-star and close friend Tom Austen in her bridal party.
Their relationship timeline offers a glimpse into a heartfelt partnership that began in the world of television and has since flourished both on and off screen.
