Everything You Need to Know About Buying Tickets for the 2028 Olympics: New Details from LA28
LA28 Announces Ticket Registration for 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games
Los Angeles, CA – LA28 unveiled its ticketing strategy for the upcoming 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, announcing that registration will begin on January 14, 2026. This registration period will remain open until March 18, 2026.
Fans can register for tickets at la28.org, and all registrants will be entered into a random draw for a chance to secure a time slot for ticket purchases. During registration, users will need to provide their zip codes. Residents of the Los Angeles and Oklahoma City areas will have access to initial slots reserved for locals.
“Our goal is to ensure that tickets reach not just any fans, but local fans,” said Allison Katz-Mayfield, LA28’s senior vice president of Games delivery revenue. “Those who are closest to the Games will play a critical role in helping us host this event.”
The 2028 Olympics will feature the most extensive schedule in history, comprising 36 sports and 11,198 athletes. While most events will take place in Los Angeles—centered in downtown, Exposition Park, and the Sepulveda Basin—additional venues will be located in Carson, Inglewood, and Long Beach. Oklahoma City will host softball and canoe slalom events.
LA28 is still determining the duration of the purchasing windows, but plans to provide multiple opportunities each day for fans to secure tickets. A variety of event tickets will be available during each release starting in 2026, with prices for single-event tickets beginning at $28. A similar registration system will be implemented for the Paralympics, with ticket sales set to begin in 2027, ensuring that fans do not need to re-register their interest.
This marks the third time Los Angeles has hosted the Olympics, and notably, it will be the city’s first time as host of the Paralympics.
Aiming to distribute 14 million tickets—a record for the Games—LA28 seeks to exceed the 12 million tickets sold for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. Registration for Paris began in November 2022, 20 months prior to the event. In contrast, fans in Los Angeles will have two and a half years to register and purchase tickets before the Games commence on July 14, 2028.
