Neon Shares Teaser for Na Hong-Jin’s Exciting Cannes Film ‘Hope’ and Plans Fall Release
Following its acclaimed debut at the Cannes Film Festival, where it garnered a seven-minute standing ovation, Neon has unveiled the official teaser for Na Hong-jin’s highly anticipated sci-fi film, Hope. The film is set to hit theaters this fall.
The teaser, lasting just over a minute and a half, offers a glimpse into a desolate South Korean landscape marked by wrecked vehicles and abandoned buildings. As an eerie, synth-driven score intensifies, viewers catch sight of the extraterrestrial threats looming over the town.

According to the official synopsis, “In Hope Harbor, a remote village near the Demilitarized Zone, police chief Bum-seok receives alarming news from local youths that a tiger has appeared. As the village erupts into panic, Bum-seok is forced to confront a reality beyond belief.”

The film features a star-studded cast, including Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Taylor Russell, and Cameron Britton.
This marks Na Hong-jin’s fourth appearance at the Cannes festival. His previous films include The Wailing, which premiered Out of Competition in 2016; The Yellow Sea, showcased in the Un Certain Regard section in 2011; and The Chaser, also screened Out of Competition in 2008.
In April, Neon secured the North American and English-language rights to Hope, having reportedly pursued the project since an early footage presentation in November. Additionally, Mubi has acquired rights for Latin America, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Turkey ahead of the film’s Cannes debut.
