Felicity Jones Takes on the Role of Agatha Christie in ‘Eleven Missing Days’ — A Look at the Author’s Mysterious Disappearance, Featuring Vincent Cassel
Felicity Jones to Star as Agatha Christie in Upcoming Noir Thriller
Two-time Oscar nominee Felicity Jones is set to portray the iconic author Agatha Christie in the upcoming noir mystery-thriller Eleven Missing Days. Jones, known for her role in The Theory of Everything, joins César winner Vincent Cassel, recognized for his performance in La Haine. The film is being introduced to buyers at this week’s Cannes market by Fortitude International.
The narrative centers around the true story of Christie’s mysterious disappearance in December 1926, a time when she was at the peak of her fame. The synopsis reveals that she vanished under peculiar circumstances from her home, leading to a media frenzy reminiscent of one of her own novels. In this cinematic exploration, those closest to Christie become suspects, as investigations unfold.
Cassel, who recently starred in Black Swan, will portray a retired Belgian police detective drawn into the investigation. His character serves as a nod to Christie’s most famous detective, Hercule Poirot.
Christie’s disappearance garnered widespread attention, capturing headlines both nationally and internationally. Notable figures, including politicians and fellow authors like Arthur Conan Doyle, became involved in the search. Various theories have emerged over the years regarding her absence, with some attributing it to amnesia induced by a car accident, while others suggest a possible “fugue” state caused by trauma or depression.
The film is directed by Bertie Ellwood, with a screenplay penned by Ernesto Foronda. It is based on Jared Cade’s book Agatha Christie and the Eleven Missing Days.
In addition to Jones and Cassel, Nicole Elizabeth Berger and Oliver Trevena are set to co-star, with more casting announcements anticipated in the near future.
Currently in pre-production, Eleven Missing Days is scheduled to begin filming this summer in the UK. Range Media Partners is handling U.S. rights for the film, which has reportedly been in development for a decade.
Production credits include Tatiana Kelly from Serena Films, Jim Young from Animus Films, Lucas Jarach from Green Light Pictures, Nadine de Barros of Fortitude International, Joshua Harris from Peachtree Media Partners, and James Cunningham from Object & Animal.
Executive producers for the project feature Ford Corbett and Nathan Klingher from Gramercy Park Media, alongside Landon Ash, Richie Walls, Brando Eaton, and others.
Jones is represented by Independent Talent Group, WME, and Peikoff Mahan. Cassel’s representation includes Range Media Partners and Agence Adequat, while Ellwood is represented by Verve, Range Media Partners, and Nord Group.
