Madonna’s Exciting New Remix of ‘I Feel So Free’ by Peggy Gou: The Journey Begins
Trending on Billboard
The lead-up to Madonna’s highly anticipated album, Confessions II, gained fresh attention with her announcement on Monday, May 11. The pop icon revealed that she will release a remix by South Korean electronic artist Peggy Gou of the album’s lead single, “I Feel So Free,” on Friday, May 15.
Gou shared a 13-second preview of the remix, titled “I Feel So Free Energy Remix,” on her Instagram Stories. In the clip, she highlighted her enhancement of the track’s bassline, featuring a vocal sample that exclaims, “It all started like this.”
This collaboration marks the first between Madonna and Gou, although Madonna has a history of electronic remixes, having worked with renowned artists such as Above & Beyond, Tracy Young, Shep Pettibone, and David Morales over the years.
Set to release on July 3 through Warner Records, Confessions II serves as a follow-up to Madonna’s acclaimed 2005 album, Confessions On a Dance Floor. Up to this point, she has unveiled “I Feel So Free” and a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter titled “Bring Your Love.”
Madonna has reunited with her long-time collaborator, producer Stuart Price, for this new project, and together they released a manifesto alongside the album announcement.
The manifesto states, “We must dance, celebrate and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect — with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people. Sound, light and vibration reshape our perceptions, pulling us into a trancelike state. The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.”
