Iconic Marilyn Monroe Memorabilia Set for Auction in Celebration of Her 100th Birthday
More than 100 items from the life and career of Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe will be auctioned next month, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of her birth. The event, titled "100 Years of Marilyn," was announced by Julien’s Auctions in collaboration with Turner Classic Movies.
Scheduled for June 4 at 10 a.m., this auction will take place at The Peninsula Beverly Hills, located at 9882 S. Santa Monica Blvd. It marks the beginning of a monthlong series of Hollywood memorabilia sales, collectively titled "A Month of Hollywood Legends." Bidders will also have the option to participate online at juliensauctions.com.
The auction catalog features a diverse assortment of personal and professional items related to Monroe, including clothing, film scripts, makeup products, photographs, and handwritten notes. Items associated with her films, such as "The Seven Year Itch" and "Something’s Got to Give," are also included.
Noteworthy items include the front entry gate from Monroe’s Brentwood residence, which has been described as a rare, museum-quality artifact. This home was designated a Historic-Cultural Monument in 2024. Other highlighted pieces feature a 1950s Jeanne Lanvin ivory silk evening gown, Monroe’s annotated script from "Something’s Got to Give," and her 1949 contract with the William Morris Agency. The auction will also present her 1956 Screen Actors Guild membership card and a handwritten recipe note.
Further items consist of a signed 1960 check from Marilyn Monroe Productions, a receipt from Schwab’s Pharmacy linked to her Beverly Hills Hotel stay, and personal garments, including a 1950s brassiere from her estate. Makeup products such as her Max Factor lipstick used in "Something’s Got to Give" and a Helena Rubinstein mascara from around 1962 will also be available.
The collection also encompasses a signed 1954 photograph of Monroe with Joe DiMaggio in Japan, a never-published photograph from 1962 taken shortly before her death, early career headshots from the 1940s, and rare behind-the-scenes images from "The Seven Year Itch."
"There was a world before Marilyn Monroe and a profoundly different one after. She remains a once-in-a-generation star whose influence reshaped culture and continues to resonate today," said Martin Nolan, executive director and co-founder of Julien’s Auctions, in a statement.
Throughout June, Turner Classic Movies will honor Monroe as its "Star of the Month," showcasing a lineup of her films, including "Some Like It Hot," "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," and "The Seven Year Itch."
