The duo, currently on tour promoting their second album HYPERYOUTH, reimagined the original’s pub-rock guitars, opting for a sound underscored by electronic production, deep bass, and rapid vocal exchanges, while still capturing the raw intensity of Amy Taylor’s original delivery.
During the session, Brae explained the choice of “Security,” citing its vibrant energy. “Just has so much energy. As soon as you hear it, you want to bounce off the wall,” he noted, emphasizing the song’s irresistible appeal.
The pair also commended Taylor’s performance style and the unrefined ambiance of the original recording, elements that contributed to Comfort To Me becoming a significant release for Amyl and The Sniffers on the global stage.
Released in 2021, “Security” features on the group’s second album Comfort To Me, which climbed into the top 25 of the Australian albums chart, broadening the Melbourne band’s international reach. This album later facilitated Amyl and The Sniffers’ inclusion in major festival lineups and touring circuits, with Taylor establishing herself as one of modern punk’s standout front figures.
Valence and Brae’s rendition of the track ventures into new sonic territories, incorporating dance music elements, Beastie Boys-inspired rap cadences, and energetic electronic textures—the hallmarks of their own musical repertoire.
The duo released HYPERYOUTH last year, collaborating with various artists, including JPEGMAFIA, Rebecca Black, and TiaCorine. The album was completed under the meticulous craftsmanship of Valence, who produced, mixed, and mastered the project in his Pennsylvania bedroom studio.
Their Like A Version performance coincided with the Australian leg of the HYPERYOUTH World Tour, which has recently included performances in cities such as Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.
