Man Extradited from Peru After Being Accused of Killing His Wife in Lancaster
Man Extradited in Connection to Wife’s Murder
A man suspected of murdering his wife in Lancaster and later abandoning her body in Angeles National Forest has been extradited from Peru to the United States.
Jossimar Cabrera, 37, arrived at Los Angeles International Airport around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Following his arrival, he was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of murder, a charge initially filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office at the Antelope Valley Courthouse.
Cabrera had been apprehended in Peru in late August and had been awaiting extradition. He is accused of fatally stabbing his wife, Sheylla Lisbet Cabrera, 33, at their apartment in Lancaster on August 10, before fleeing to Peru with their three children.
The investigation into her death reveals that her body was discovered on August 16 at the bottom of an embankment in Angeles National Forest. Security camera footage captured Cabrera dragging a large bag from their apartment, prompting search and rescue teams to find an object resembling the fabric seen in the video over the embankment. Authorities later confirmed that this material contained the victim’s body.
Neighbors have reported that Sheylla had confided in them about experiencing physical abuse at the hands of her husband. The case is still under investigation as officials continue to gather evidence.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau encourages anyone with additional information to come forward.
