Paramount Pictures and Warner Music Group Team Up for Exciting New Film Projects Featuring Top Performing Artists
Paramount Pictures and Warner Music Group Forge Multi-Year Partnership
Paramount Pictures and Warner Music Group (WMG) have entered into a multi-year first-look deal aimed at developing theatrical films inspired by the lives and music of WMG’s diverse roster of artists and songwriters.
WMG boasts an extensive catalog featuring iconic performers such as Frank Sinatra, Cher, The Eagles, David Bowie, Phil Collins, Fleetwood Mac, Madonna, Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Charli XCX, Joni Mitchell, Cardi B, Led Zeppelin, and Bruno Mars. This partnership aims to leverage the rich narratives and creative potential inherent in these artists’ stories.
Under the agreement, WMG and its production partner Unigram, led by Amanda Ghost and Gregor Cameron, will collaborate with Paramount to develop projects that engage directly with artists, songwriters, or their estates. Currently, no specific projects are in early development. This announcement follows recent successes in the music biopic genre, notably Lionsgate and Universal’s Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, which achieved over $500 million globally. Paramount has also made a significant impact with projects like Rocketman, chronicling Elton John’s life, which grossed over $195 million worldwide, and Bob Marley: One Love, which reached nearly $181 million.
Robert Kyncl, CEO of Warner Music Group, emphasized the forward-thinking nature of the collaboration. “This partnership unites two innovative companies, taking a fresh approach to storytelling. Every artist deserves to share their life stories and music in their own creative way, and we’re eager to work with our talented artists and world-class filmmakers to bring these narratives to the big screen,” he stated.
Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, Co-Chairs of Paramount Pictures, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting, “We’re excited to collaborate with WMG and their extraordinary artists to create powerful theatrical experiences inspired by generation-defining music and talent.”
Amanda Ghost, co-founder of Unigram, highlighted the unique opportunities arising from this unprecedented collaboration. “This partnership empowers Warner Music artists and songwriters to bring their stories, sounds, and repertoires to scripted features and animated films, with music as a central character,” she remarked.
WMG and Unigram are represented by WME. WMG’s Recorded Music division encompasses numerous labels, including 10K Projects, 300 Entertainment, Atlantic, and Warner Records, among others.
