Six People Admit Guilt in Violent 2025 LA Freeway Riot Involving CHP Officers
Three Men Plead Guilty in 2025 Los Angeles Riot
LOS ANGELES – On Wednesday, three men admitted guilt for their involvement in a violent riot that erupted on June 8, 2025, beneath a freeway overpass in downtown Los Angeles. This confrontation involved law enforcement officers who were left vulnerable amid a barrage of fireworks and debris.
The riot stemmed from a protest against U.S. immigration enforcement, escalating into chaos on the Main Street overpass of the 101 Freeway. Prosecutors indicate that a total of six individuals have entered guilty pleas related to this incident, during which a California Highway Patrol (CHP) vehicle was set ablaze.
Defendants Adam Charles Palermo, Ismael Vega, and Yachua Mauricio Flores acknowledged their roles in igniting fireworks and dropping burning debris onto the CHP vehicle while officers were trapped beneath the overpass. Other participants, including Balton Montion, Junior Roldan, and Ronald Alexis Coreas, admitted to throwing rocks at officers trying to disperse the crowd.
Sentencing for these defendants is anticipated in the coming months. Palermo faces the most severe potential penalty, with a maximum of 20 years in federal prison, while the other defendants could receive sentences ranging from one to five years.
Despite the guilty pleas, the court has yet to finalize exact sentencing dates. Additionally, it remains uncertain whether federal investigators are pursuing any further suspects associated with the broader group involved in the incident.
Federal documents describe the events as a "civil disorder," posing immediate threats to individuals and property. Prosecutors highlighted that the defendants engaged in reckless behavior by setting fire to various materials and targeting law enforcement.
As proceedings continue, most of the defendants are currently free on bond, while a hearing is scheduled for Hernandez, Jr. on Monday to enter his plea.
