LONG BEACH, Calif. – An urgent search is in progress for 68-year-old Thomas Murrell, an Atlanta resident with dementia, who disappeared Sunday night near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Murrell had traveled to the area with his wife to board a cruise when he wandered away from their hotel.
According to reports, Murrell is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs around 220 pounds, and has brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a blue shirt, sweatpants, and a green hat.

Local authorities are treating the situation with urgency, given both Murrell’s dementia and the bustling environment around the airport district.
Murrell’s family is actively appealing for assistance and has released recent photographs of him in the attire he was wearing. They hope that someone will recognize him or have information on his whereabouts.
The public is urged to remain vigilant, particularly in areas surrounding LAX and local hotels. If anyone sees a man fitting Murrell’s description or has any relevant information, they are encouraged to contact 911 immediately.
