Laura Lekkos Brings Bestselling Novel ‘Expiration Dates’ to Life for Emma Roberts and Amazon MGM Studios
The upcoming film Expiration Dates explores the life of a woman who receives paper slips from the universe indicating the expiration date of each of her relationships. When she meets a man who challenges this predetermined timeline, she begins to question the rules set before her.
Produced by Featherweight Pictures’ Jessica Pugh and Chelsea Bradshaw, the film also features contributions from Belletrist’s Roberts and Karah Preiss, along with executive producers Matt Matruski, David Stone, and Serle.

Writer Lekkos, known for her romantic comedy Relationship Goals featuring Kelly Rowland and Cliff “Method Man” Smith, released February 4 on Prime Video. She is also set to adapt the bestselling romantic novel The Marriage Bargain for 20th Century Studios. Her debut novel, All the Little Ways, is scheduled for release in June by Simon and Schuster’s Gallery Books. Additionally, she penned the script for Somewhere Only We Know, based on Maureen Goo’s novel and currently in development at Netflix. Lekkos has a number of other projects underway, including Daring to Live, a true-story dramedy based on Sheri Hunter’s memoir.
Serle, with millions of novels sold in over 30 territories, is also a notable figure in the literary world. Her New York Times bestseller One Italian Summer has sold over 1.5 million copies and is currently being developed at Paramount with Temple Hill producing. Her novel In Five Years, which has surpassed 2.3 million copies sold in 32 languages, is in development at New Line with Working Title. Moreover, Serle’s latest release, Once and Again, is in early development at Apple. Her YA novel When You Were Mine was adapted into the feature film Rosaline, produced by 21 Laps and debuted on Hulu in 2022. Additionally, she developed the successful TV adaptation Famous in Love, based on her YA series of the same name.
