Seth MacFarlane Explores the Idea of a Live-Action ‘Ted’ Movie for Peacock
Seth MacFarlane expressed his enthusiasm for more content related to Ted, emphasizing the series’ enduring appeal. “It really is up to Peacock with their, you know, vast amounts of big Scrooge McDuck money that they dive into every day,” MacFarlane remarked, noting uncertainty about the platform’s willingness to finance another season. “I think all of us, in some form or another, whether it’s a Season 3 of Ted or a direct-to-Peacock feature with this cast, is something I think we’d all be up for. It’s all on the table.”
In a related discussion, actress Ubach joined MacFarlane on stage, highlighting the limitless potential of character-driven series. “The wonderful thing about a character-driven show is that the possibilities are endless, right?” she said.
When asked about the forthcoming animated series, MacFarlane reminded attendees that the original Ted movie, starring Mark Wahlberg, began as an animated pitch before becoming a major success. “It’s only fitting that it all comes back around to the animated show, the first season of which is getting close to completion as far as the production cycle,” he said. The new animated installment is being shaped by executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh and takes place after the events of the last film. “It’s Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth… all the folks from the original films. And it’s really funny. They’ve just done a phenomenal job. It’s joyful, at this point in my career, to get something off the ground and then watch it take shape under different stewardship. Brad and Paul have turned this thing into something that is fun for me to watch.”
A recording of the panel discussion will be available on Monday.
