Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has publicly addressed recent insults directed at her by former President Donald Trump, following her interview with CBS’s *60 Minutes*. Speaking on CBS News, Greene articulated her feelings regarding Trump’s criticisms, which included naming her “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown” in a post that also labeled her a “very dumb person.” Trump described her as reminiscent of a “Rotten Apple,” indicating his displeasure with her recent statements.
In her response to CBS News, Greene stated, “I actually am starting to feel very sorry for President Trump.” She further commented on the character of his remarks, emphasizing, “It’s actually a very poor reflection on him that he chooses to speak about me that way,” referencing his reaction to her interview with journalist Lesley Stahl on December 7. The White House did not provide an immediate comment regarding this situation.
Greene has represented Georgia’s 14th district since January 2021 and has been a longstanding supporter of Trump’s policies. However, there have been tensions between the two, with Greene openly critiquing some of Trump’s decisions in recent months. Notably, she has criticized his administration’s hesitation to release documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.
In November, Trump indicated that Greene had “lost her way,” withdrawing his endorsement of her after she had raised concerns about receiving threats that she alleged were exacerbated by Trump’s rhetoric.

During her recent CBS interview, Greene also critiqued Trump for his ongoing disparagement of female reporters, stating, “He always continues to speak about women like this, and that’s something that women all over the country pay attention to.” She argued that the Republican Party needs to reassess its approach, noting, “the Republican Party has a very difficult time with women voting for them.”

Greene expressed concern over Trump’s perception of loyalty, stating, “It’s unfortunate that President Trump thinks loyalty is a one-way street.” She also reflected on the implications of his behavior, asserting, “I do feel sorry for him, because I think he’s extremely unaware, and I don’t know how he can be unaware about this.” These statements followed her assertion during *60 Minutes* that many in her party were intimidated by Trump’s influence and hesitant to speak out against him for fear of his social media criticisms.
This ongoing tension between Greene and Trump underscores a broader discourse within the Republican Party about its approach to women and internal dissent.
