Megan Thee Stallion Takes Time to Heal After Hospital Stay for Exhaustion Amid ‘Moulin Rouge!’ Performance

Megan Thee Stallion is on the mend following her unexpected departure from a performance of Moulin Rouge! on April 1. A spokesperson informed Billboard that her abrupt exit was due to “extreme exhaustion” experienced during the show.
“On Tuesday evening, Megan was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms,” the representative stated. “Doctors ultimately identified extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction, and low metabolic levels as the cause of her symptoms. Megan has since been treated, discharged, and is now resting.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, vasoconstriction occurs when the muscles surrounding blood vessels tighten, narrowing the space and affecting blood flow, with stress being a known trigger.
The spokesperson added, “Megan is incredibly grateful for the prayers and well wishes from her supporters and is looking forward to resuming her role as Zidler in Moulin Rouge on Thursday.”
This update follows an announcement made to fans at New York’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre, where Megan had been making her Broadway debut as Zidler. Attendees were informed that she would not complete the performance after only a few numbers. A representative confirmed that she had “started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated.”
Megan’s hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, also shared an update from the hospital on X, urging, “Everyone say a prayer for Megan.”
Before this setback, Megan had expressed her excitement about her role in Moulin Rouge! Following her first show the week before her hospitalization, she posted on Instagram, “So grateful for this incredible cast & crew & everyone who worked so hard to make opening night a success!! HOTTIES IM ON BROADWAY!!”
In an interview with Billboard, Megan had previously commented on her Broadway opportunity, saying, “When I got the opportunity to do it. I was like, ‘Hell yes, I’m coming up here doing it. How many times a day we gotta perform? OK, hell yeah, I’m doing that.’”
