K-pop icons Stray Kids are celebrating a significant milestone: eight years since their 2018 debut. To mark the occasion, the group has unveiled a new single for their devoted fans.
Released on Wednesday, March 25, the track “별, 빛 (STAY)” pays tribute to the band’s fanbase, affectionately known as STAY, further emphasizing their connection with supporters.
Members HAN and Seungmin contributed to the composition and lyrical creation of the song, which is characterized as a guitar and piano ballad. It conveys a narrative about individuals who traverse life under the same sky, relying on each other. The lyrics evoke imagery of the universe and stars, a theme mirrored in the single’s artwork, which draws inspiration from the band’s official lightstick. Additionally, each of the eight members designed a star for the cover art, adding a unique personal touch, according to a press release.
Stray Kids debuted with their EP I Am Not in March 2018, followed by I Am Who and I Am You later that same year. Their first full album, GO生, was released in 2020 and recognized by Billboard as the 10th best K-pop album of the year. Over the past eight years, Stray Kids has achieved remarkable success, topping the Billboard 200 chart on eight consecutive occasions and becoming the first act to debut at No. 1 with their first six entries. Their accolades include the Top K-Pop Album at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, Group of the Year at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, and K-Pop Album of the Year at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards. Following their 2025 mixtape SKZ IT TAPE ‘DO IT’, the group also made history as the K-pop act with the most RIAA Gold album certifications.
