Jason Statham’s ‘The Beekeeper 2’ Set to Premiere in German-Speaking Countries in January 2027
Leonine Studios Secures Distribution Rights for The Beekeeper 2
Leonine Studios has obtained the distribution rights for Miramax’s much-anticipated sequel, The Beekeeper 2, in German-speaking Europe, excluding a Pay-1 window on Prime Video. The film, which stars Jason Statham, is set to hit theaters in Germany on January 14, 2027.
This announcement follows Leonine Studios’ success with the original installment of The Beekeeper, which debuted in Germany in January 2024. That film achieved remarkable results, topping the box office with 800,000 admissions and one million digital transactions, making it the most successful transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) title of the year in the country.
Globally, The Beekeeper earned an impressive $162.6 million at the box office and holds a “92% Verified Hot” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The sequel, produced and financed by Miramax, will be distributed outside of German-speaking Europe by Amazon MGM Studios. Directed by Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto (Nobody 2), The Beekeeper 2 is based on a script written by Kurt Wimmer, who also penned the original film. In this follow-up, Statham reprises his role as retired field agent Adam Clay. The production is a collaboration between Statham’s Punch Palace Productions, Chris Long’s Longshot Productions, and Wimmer.
