Armenian American Museum Welcomes Pianist Laura Farré Rozada for Her U.S. Debut
Barcelona Pianist Blends Music and Mathematics in U.S. Debut
GLENDALE, Calif. – Laura Farré Rozada, a Barcelona-based pianist and mathematician, will perform her first concert for the American Armenian diaspora on March 25 in Glendale. This event, hosted in collaboration with the Armenian American Museum, showcases pieces from her album, "Araspel," and marks a significant milestone in her musical journey.
Rozada has carved a niche where music and mathematics intersect, exploring their profound connections. Her performances demonstrate how mathematical principles can assist musicians in memorizing and executing intricate compositions.
With a dedication to unveiling lesser-known works, Rozada’s exploration of Armenian music began with the compositions of Komitas, the father of Armenian classical music. Her visit to Armenia deepened her understanding of the country’s rich musical heritage and transformed her artistic approach. “It was a combination of curiosity… and when I traveled to Armenia to discover the country and its history, it really captivated me,” she said.
While pursuing a dual degree in piano performance and mathematics, Rozada developed a unique method of memorizing music through mathematical frameworks. “I’ve tried to develop a profile as a performer discovering repertoire you don’t often hear in concert venues,” she explained.
Rozada believes that music serves as a vital tool for emotional well-being. “We saw during COVID that we cannot live without music—it’s an amazing healing tool,” she stated, reflecting on music’s role in fostering collective identity.
The upcoming concert in Glendale is not merely a performance for Rozada; it represents an opportunity to connect with a community that has profoundly inspired her work. As she prepares to share the emotional depth of Armenian piano music with her audience, she embraces the belief that in today’s overwhelming world, music remains a fundamental source of reflection and reconnection.
