What We Know About Season 5 of The Morning Show So Far
"The Morning Show" Season 5 Welcomes New Talent Amid Character Departures
Apple TV’s The Morning Show is gearing up for its fifth season, adding new faces to its expansive ensemble cast following notable exits from Season 4.
The previous season concluded with significant changes as key characters departed midway through the narrative. As anticipation builds for the upcoming season, three actors have already been confirmed to join the cast.
Release Date Uncertain
As of now, the release date for Season 5 remains undisclosed, primarily due to the fact that production has yet to commence.
New Cast Members Announced
Among the new additions, Jeff Daniels will take on a pivotal recurring role as Lukas, a self-made billionaire and investment firm founder. Daniels is also known for his recent appearance in Apple TV’s Shrinking.
Additionally, Reneé Rapp is set to return to acting with her role as Samantha, a young journalist aiming to carve her own path in the media landscape, after a break from her previous work in HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls.
Returning Cast Favorites
The series will also see the return of several beloved characters, including Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie, and Jon Hamm. However, Greta Lee’s absence will be noted, along with Aaron Pierre, as hinted at by showrunner Charlotte Stoudt.
Plot Speculations
While few plot details have been revealed, Stoudt has suggested that there may be a time jump between Seasons 4 and 5, a narrative device previously utilized in the series. The introduction of Jesse Williams’ character, Vernon, who takes on the Head of News position—a role that has proven controversial—signals potential tension between established characters Mia and Ben.
Recap of Season 4
Season 4 saw the downfall of Celine Dumont, portrayed by Marion Cotillard, following her exposure for manipulating narratives at UBN/NBN. The season concluded with Ben, a hire of Celine, taking the Head of News position, which led to challenges in his relationships with other characters. Meanwhile, Alex Levy, played by Jennifer Aniston, navigated complications in her personal and professional life, including an unexpected romance.
Production Team
The Morning Show is produced by Media Res, with Charlotte Stoudt serving as showrunner and executive producer. Mimi Leder is also an executive producer and director of the series.
As viewers await more information on the new season, the combination of new and returning talent promises to keep the drama of the news world as compelling as ever.
