James Maslow from Big Time Rush Launches New Unscripted Travel Show Called Unbound
James Maslow to Headline New Unscripted Series ‘Unbound’
James Maslow, known for his role in the pop group Big Time Rush, is set to headline and executive-produce Unbound, an upcoming unscripted adventure series produced by TSMA Studios. The series will premiere on YouTube.
Unbound will follow Maslow as he travels around the globe, collaborating with experts, celebrities, athletes, and creators to engage in "high-intensity, once-in-a-lifetime experiences." The first season has been filmed in locations including Los Angeles, Nashville, Miami, and Hawaii, featuring guests such as Jaime Camil from Jane the Virgin, bodybuilder Mike O’Hearn, the firearms training company Taran Tactical, racecar driver Ryan Phinny, and digital creator Alvaro Nunez. Activities for this season range from racecar driving and tactical exercises to exploring the Everglades.
Looking ahead, plans for a second season will take the series internationally, focusing on Asia, particularly Japan and South Korea. The new episodes will delve into "high-energy pop culture to deeply rooted traditions and cross-cultural discovery."
A third season is also in development, set to take place in Israel. In this installment, Maslow will train with and highlight competitors during the Maccabiah Games, exploring themes of identity, culture, and sport.
Maslow, who rose to fame alongside the Nickelodeon series Big Time Rush, expressed his enthusiasm for the new project. "When I started in this industry, television was the gold standard," he said. "Today, I believe YouTube holds that place—a platform where anyone can bring their imagination to life. After 20 years of nonstop work, Unbound has let me turn long-neglected hobbies and adventures into something meaningful. It’s been my excuse to have fun again."
Series director Ryan Walker emphasized the show’s importance in today’s content landscape: "Unbound comes at a time where there isn’t enough exciting, adventurous, exploration-focused content on the internet… James is literally removing the boundaries set for him most of his life, and inspiring others to do the same."
