LA28 Unveils 2028 Olympic Soccer Schedule with Exciting Matches Across the Nation
LA28 Announces Schedule for 2028 Olympic Soccer Tournament
Los Angeles, CA – On Monday, LA28 unveiled the schedule for an extended Olympic soccer tournament, set to kick off four days prior to the opening ceremony of the Games.
The competition will commence on July 10 with four men’s group stage matches taking place in New York, Columbus, Nashville, and St. Louis. The women’s tournament will follow, beginning on July 11, and will feature games in all six preliminary round venues, which include San José and San Diego.
This tournament marks a historic moment as it will include 12 women’s teams and eight men’s teams, representing the largest format ever for Olympic soccer. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board has extended the competition window to provide each team with an additional two rest days during the tournament.
As the tournament progresses, teams will enjoy a structured schedule, with two days of rest between group stage games and three days off between the final group matches and the quarterfinals. The men’s knockout rounds will begin on July 20, while the women’s quarterfinals will take place starting July 21, notably including a quarterfinal match at the iconic Rose Bowl.
The Rose Bowl in Pasadena will host five matches, featuring men’s and women’s semifinals on July 24, along with the men’s gold medal match on July 28 and the women’s final on July 29.
San Diego’s SnapDragon Stadium will host the most matches of any venue, totaling 11. This location will see three days of women’s group stage matches, a women’s quarterfinal on July 21, and both the men’s and women’s semifinals on July 24, as well as the bronze medal matches.
To accommodate demand, LA28 announced additional ticket options, allowing fans to buy up to 12 tickets for soccer events. This is in addition to the existing 12-ticket limit for other Olympic events, which includes a four-ticket cap for both the opening and closing ceremonies.
With over 5 million fans already registered for tickets, LA28 anticipates a robust interest ahead of the Games. The organizing committee expects a total of 14 million tickets will be available, aiming to surpass the ticket sales record set during the Paris 2024 Games.
